glad you found that problem !
 make sure you use a header type bolt for the 10.95 clutch with an 11" disc , the normal bolts can grab the edge of the disc

Checked the pilot bushing.The difference between it and the input shaft is about .003.Still good?

Going to rent or borrow a tranny jack to install.I see they make adapters for floor jacks.Anyone use one before?

Had a similar problem with a Hays disc about 25 years ago.

Is it still flat?

Yes ,it is still flat.Lesson learned.Try disc on splines first.
Removing the tranny gave me the opportunity to cleaner up the shifter.I remember it shifting easy 20 years ago but when I put it back in the car recently,it was different.After taking the covers off,I could see why.The grease had hardened and become waxy.After soaking in solvent and relubing,it feels better.
Years ago,I was able to go through the gears and never miss one.Should be ready to do it again.

One of the biggest problems people have is not making sure the input shaft and clutch plate splines move freely along each other prior to installing the transmission. Simple to do and makes gear changing and putting into gear from neutral a beeze. Never use any lube on these surfaces, just make 'em shiny and smooth with fine emery cloth and the old points files. Takes patience but pays off.

You are right 73EStroker.Also clean the old grease out of your shifter.Mine feels almost to free now but only because it was stiff before.
I installed the tranny by myself.Used (4 ) 7/16" x 6" bolts with the heads cutoff as guide pins and a floor jack.Tranny slid right in.

Hmmmm.... seems like this could be the problem with the Cuda.

doesn't shift right and seems as though the disk isn't releasing all the way
