the 727 in the cuda bit the dust! i think it broke when i went drag racing last month i broke a planetary gear. the pin holding the axle of the planetary gear came loose and chewed the gear up.
then it looks like some of that metal got down the rear clutch pack and tore up a lip seal as well as eating up the clutches and piston. when the lip seal started leaking pressure it accelerated the clutch wear.
i noticed a couple weeks ago that when the trans was cold it didn't shift hard when i hit second and i downshifted to pass a car and it slipped like crazy it was all down hill from there so i knew something was wrong. After talking to a friend we thought the band was wore out so i pulled the pan and had metal everywhere and fluid smelled horrible! out it came and i tore it apart in short order and found the carnage also found
the converter was rubbing the front seal. luckily my fairly new bands look like new and the forward clutches do too.
so know i have to make some money to get a new custom PTC converter from a friend that owns a trans shop, he is gonna help me rebuild the trans i built it the last time and it worked fine until the planetary broke but i am gonna take advantage of his expertise while it is available.
so after that rambling i think instead of what i thought was spinning at the track was the trans going away after the first pass.
