Ammeter repair/upgrade
« on: September 14, 2012 - 10:11:41 AM »
OK, so while I was perusing some Mopar websites, I ran across the Performance Car Graphics site and stumbled into the section where they sell the "ammeter isolators". My ammeter is still functional, and no wires have cooked. Since my dash is out of the car for restore, I figured I would address the ammeter issue in one way or the other. Has anyone purchased the isolators and installed them from Performance Graphics, or do you prefer to perform the voltmeter changeover and wiring reroute? I prefer to keep the ammeter stock, and the updated parts that address the physical issues inherent in the ammeters seem to be a solid solution with the least amount of intrusion.

Thanks

The only real way to address the full flow ammeter is to engineer a shunt arrangement or eliminate it IMO.  I prefer the change over to a voltmeter with an alternator bypass wire to help unload the bulkhead connector.  :2cents:

Thanks, When all is said and done, going with the solution that is less likely to let the car burn up, is really the way to go.
