440 Six Pack bowl vent baffle question
« on: October 26, 2012 - 04:04:39 PM »
Getting parts together to freshen up my Six Pack carbs on my 440.
They are Holley repop carbs and are still in nice shape.

The last time I had the center carb apart I couldn't remember the right way to install my bowl vent baffle.
It's the plastic one pictured below.

If I put the baffle on the alignment tabs on TOP of the bowl gasket, it just fell off as soon as I moved the carb.
I ended up putting it UNDER the gasket but I'm not sure if that was correct..would that cause a vacum leak?

So when I tear the carb apart again I want to do it the right way.

First, do I need this baffle at all?

Second, should I replace it with a push in style baffle if that's possible?

Third, if I reuse the current baffle does it go on top or underneath the bowl gasket?

Thanks
