Gran Coupe door ajar extension?
« on: September 26, 2012 - 08:12:09 PM »
Can any of you Gran Coupe guys help me with this? I'm putting in a new dash harness. The wiring from the overhead console to the door ajar switches there is a single wire (an extension) that runs from the right door switch to the body wiring. It's a single black wire. After it plugs in the door switch where the heck does the other end plug in? I don't have the wire but I looked at a picture of it from Yearone and there looks to be a gray female connector that I can't figure out where it goes.

I don't have our Cuda close by, but if memory serves, that wire crosses below the (metal) package shelf through little U-shaped clips and plugs in to a socket on the driver's side under the shelf and right by where the taillight harness goes through.

Both my wires were yellow and black plugging into the door sensor and routed up into the firewall behind the heater duct, ( origional wiring here not replaced when i put in the new year one dash and engine harnesses) on the drivers side they were wrapped completely in black tape. Not sure where they go after that to get to the overhead console. Seems like they are routed up the drivers side pillar in to the overhead console.  :dunno: sorry could not get a good pic behind the ducting.

I may be looking at the no longer used cruise control harness going behind the ducting the door sensor may be wired through the harness next to the e-brake.

He's talking about the "door ajar" switches that are on the rear of the door openings  (not the switches on the front that control the dome light).

"Door ajar switches on the rear of the door openings"? That's news to me. I don't have any switches at the rear of the door openings. What do they look like? If I had anything back there they must have been gone years ago.

That's where the "door ajar" switches were (originally).  All the wiring for the overhead console connected below the left quarter window and behind the left side of the rear seat.  The switches look just like the ones by the hinges but with only one wire going to them.

Thanks for the help. I had no idea their were switches in that location. No wonder why I couldn't figure out how every thing was wired. It all makes sense now.
