And as of today:
Further notes:
5. Welded weights onto the torque converter, torque converter is not correct for forged crank, and so they welded correctly sized weights on it.
6. Previous owner took spring out of reverse servo and put spacer in it to accommodate that.
7. Kevlar front band installed in it.
Diagnosis of problem:
Inner lip seal for front clutch was too small for groove - cold fluid was thick and would not hold, but hot fluid would not hold. forward, rear clutches, bands were burned.
option 1:
$225 - torque converter
$75 - high performance band
$1200 - grand total for rebuild
option 2:
* better torque converter; better stall speed (2100), welded fins (turbines) in torque converter
* high performance clutches (steel to co-ring plates or blue plates)
* change transmission fluid to blue transmission fluid (trick shift)
$375 for kit above
$100 for fluid
$1700 - grand total for rebuild
