couple questions about side window area

1.  Reguarding the small clip that screws to the roof that holds the glass inplace when the windows are up.  There is one per side and attaches to the roof right after the A-pillar. 

How is that part finished?  Is it just black paint or was it rubber dipped?  The black finish peeled off in one big piece.  Should I dip it in rubber or just paint it black?  If it's just paint, how do I get that really thick coating on it...just dip it in a can of gloss black Rustoleum?   Won't the paint peel right off when the window closes against it?

2.  For those of you with vinyl tops, can someone post a picture of the bottom of the A-pillar for me.  Where the A-pillar goes down behind the back of the fender.  I'd like to see how the vinyl top looks in that area and also how those two small stainless pieces attach. 

I test fit the drip rail moldings and the vinyl top hangs down below the trim.  I don't know if it's supposed to be this way or if I need to do some trimming.  I can take a picture of the area I'm refering too if need be.  Thanks

Does anyone have a picture of a vinyl top car with the door open.  Does the vinyl extend down lower then the drip rail trim or is it trimmed to the end of the trim?  I'd also like a picture of those two small stainless pieces attached to the car at the base of the windshield.

How have you refinished the small black side glass clip that holds the glass against the seal?

No pic from me but on my car which used to be vinyl top, the vinyl ended under the stainless pieces at the bottom of the A-pillar.  That is it's purpose to hide the end of the vinyl.  The "tang" on the stainless steel piece fits into/under the stainless drip rail trim I beleive.  I removed those when I got rid of the top but that is my recollection.

Thanks   The guy that installed the top left alot of excess material.  Something just didn't look right down there.  I'll trim the vinyl to the drip rail trim.  I'd still like to see a pic of those small stainless pieces installed.  If anyone can take a pic that would be great.

 What did you end up doing with these clips ? I am at this stage. I have trial fitted them and they don't touch the glass.
 Also, which side of the door glass do the plastic ups screw in from. There is 1 at both ends of the glass. You push them into a hole in the glass and then tighten a screw into them. When window is wound up they come in contact with the rubber stop bracket attached to the skin side of the door. At the moment mine are screwed in from the cabin side of the glass. Looks like they would work better other way around, but would be awarkward to move now that the glass is in.
 Your thoughts please.

The up stop brackets are bolted to the inner door frame.  That means those plastic stops on the glass need to be installed on the inside of the glass.(with the attaching screw heads on the outside)

I dipped those clips in Plasti-Dip.  Liquid tape would also work.  My glass barely makes contact with those clips.

 Thanks for the reply. Will swap my ups stops around. Will try dipping the clips even though, as yours, they barely touch the glass.
