Steering shaft u joint ?
« on: October 09, 2012 - 07:39:35 AM »
my steering shaft coupler rubs on a header pipe and is getting cooked by the heat so I'm considering a u joint. what size would work and are there any issues running a u joint over the stock coupler?
Thanks!

it can be done , Borgeson makes steering U joints , I recommend both welding & pinning them , drill a hole into the shaft & insert a pin to prevent failure , the U joint will be smaller diameter but you may have to increase the shaft length .

I cannot see why the U joint would be ridgid on the steering box & the column shaft has only 1 brg @ the top & can float a little inside the column
