Clean / Restore Gauges?
« on: October 15, 2012 - 05:44:09 PM »
I am looking for any tips on cleaning 40 years worth of grime and gunk off the faces of the gauges in a ralley dash. More specificaly a cleaner to use that won't take off the silk screening or black back ground. Need to determine if I can saze these or if I need to look for repops.....

If it were me, I would soak them in Evaporust first.
Evaporust won't afect paint yet is a good agitant on dirt and grease also.

I did my window track assemblies in them.
They were filthy and grimmy. Came out really clean afterwards.

After that, a very soft brush with diluted dawn soap for the final clean off.
Then blow dry on cool low.
