Drivetrain Upgrades?
« on: November 12, 2012 - 05:39:43 PM »
I need some advice..
I have a 70 Challenger that now has the following:
--360 .30 over with upgraded cam and pistons (nothing too extreme- just a nice amount of bump to it)

I still have the 8 1/4 rear end and 904 transmission but I'm thinking of upgrading to a 727 transmission and 8 3/4 rear end. I don't have the cash right now to do a POSI but I know I can always change out the internals later.
Is this worth doing with what I have? This car will NOT do any racing- just daily driving to shows and the occasional "open up" on the Interstate.
I don't want to spend on upgrades I really don't need.

Thanks

Run what you have now. When it breaks, then upgrade to an 8 3/4 and a SUREGRIP.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

I would look for deals on parts so you are ready to go if something fails  but run what you have for now . Both the 904 & 8 1/4 are strong parts
