Tie rod End Issue
« on: October 24, 2012 - 09:49:47 AM »
I have completed my suspension and noticed that three is an issue with the outer tie rod ends. It seems as if they are under stress to where the boot is actually being forced against the rod and has cracked- it's brand new.
I've done a front disc upgrade with B-Body hardware and need to know if there is in fact a difference in the ti rod ends. (See photos you can see how it's mashed upward against the hardware)
Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

When the weight of the car is on the suspension the tie rod will be straighter.
Do you have the bump rubbers under the upper control arms installed?

I've noticed that they sit fine when the car is on the ground. Yes, I have the bumpers installed.
Do these look like they're correct?

The boot on the driver's side has been "jammed upwards" into the assembly and has cracked as a result. Passenger side is fine. I thought that maybe- seeing as the spindles are off a A/B Body and the tie rods/ ends are E-body, maybe there's an issue? It almost looks like the threaded shaft should be shorter????
If not, I'll just replace the boot.
