71-74 Bucket Seat Tracks
« on: October 19, 2012 - 05:04:16 PM »
I noticed that in the 71-74 seat tracks, the connecting cable is no longer used. How does this track stay locked in place if only half of it is actually locking?
Are these tracks stable?
i'm thinking about using these in my 70 due to costs and want to make sure they're just as stable as the older models.

Thanks

That's a great question. I didn't realize the 70 tracks were unique in this way.

My 71 Challenger seat tracks are connected with wire and DO lock on both sides.  I circled the wires with red.

How are they different than 70?

My '73 only locks on one side. Maybe supposed to be that way? Maybe I'm missing parts?
Never felt unstable though.  :2cents:

Nope. My 73 is same way and original. As far as stability goes, I've never noticed anything although I would question it's ability to hold the seat in place, with one small tab of metal locking into one track, in case of an impact. :-o
