How critical to measure for new shocks on a lowered car?
« on: November 14, 2012 - 04:03:39 PM »
Hi folks,

I have a lowered car (about 2" lower) and was trying to figure out if its critical to get shocks with a lower compressed height.

I was planning on QA1 double adjustables for the front, and single adjust for the rear.

Anyone have insight into this issue?

Thanks,
Chris

as long as they dont bottom out when you go over bumps or railroad tracks you will be fine. i would measure theres good directions on how to do that on ridetechs website. right on the bottom of this page and there shocks sound really nice as well http://www.ridetech.com/store/shocks/
my little brother lowered his ram and didnt change the shocks and i will tell you that it was the most jarring uncomfortable ride ever when the shocks bottomed out

I`m no suspension expert but shocks do have an optimal working range so yes you should get shocks to fit.

Anyone need to go with drop spindles because they lowered their car?

I think dropped spindels are always a good thing when lowering... unless it`s just a little lower.  The less tension on the torsionbars, the more wet newspaper feeling in handling.   :2cents:

A shock should be at 2/3rd of it's travel at ridehight.
