Ethanol kills both power & milage , you need not quite 2x as much ethanol but at least 50% more , alcohol jets are int he 130 -150 range while the gas jets are 70-80s for example . The octane of alcohol is much higher though .
 Av Gas still has lead , apparently is is ok to pollute if you are off the ground  :smilielol: Your engine will love av gas but generally it is illegal to buy it & best case you can fill Jerry cans , they will not pump it into a car , we always told them it was far a racecar / track use .
 In Canada Mohawk / Husky fuels have a lot of ethanol in them , my truck would not run it the crap !
As someone posted it is a battle , you add ethanol at the same time you have to meet Cafe requirements for better fuel economy .
 As for Petrocan , Why would you go there , Ever ??

Maryland has added 10% Ethanol  to all fuel for over 8 yrs.
My 2003 Yukon uses regular 85 octane gasoline.
It can run on Flex Fuel  (102 Octane Ethanol)  but no one sells it in our area.
I have filled up my Yukon with 102 octane Ethanol when I visit family in Pittsburgh.
No difference in performance but less milage.
20 to 40 cents difference in price of regular gasoline.
If car manufacturers are going to sell Flex Fuel cars they should provide it by having pumps at the dealers..........then they willstick it to you
on the price of the fuel.
Haggerty did a test  with ethenol on a sport car.  Bull**** test, they claim there were no issues with it.
 The problem with Ethenol is not performance or milage,.
The problem is if your boat or car sits an not driver for one or two weeks the ethanol absorbs moisture.
The ethanol is not pure and corn starch is still in it,  If you do not have the correct rubber hoses, seals they become soft and collapse,
and it will GUM UP your carburetors.
Purchase Sta-Bilt for marine  (yellow bottle) use and add it to every tank of  gas every car you own.

Ethanol destroys electric fuel pumps & many other plastic/rubber products that it is not compatible with. I don't care what the manufacturers say about it being totally compatible, I've replaced the fuel pump in almost every vehicle I own, My Explorer, a mini van, a station wagon, my land Rover & my wife's Ford. They cause the rubber to swell and the fuel pumps fail. I have a friend that has a shop and he has taken failed  electric fuel pumps and cut them in half on a band saw to prove what the ethanol does to these things, not to mention carburetors. Ethanol sucks!  :villagers:

I've had another question pop-up on the topic of ethanol and I'll repeat post-it here, for any forum members who might be able to shed some light.

Anyone heard of this stuff called "PRI-G"?

A buddy and neighbor is a HVAC mechanic and they do a LOT of work with gov't-installation generators of all sizes.

He said that is where he heard about "PRI-G" first and then he got real curious about it after he heard the mechanics in the area marinas extolling the virtues of the stuff:

I agree that ethanol is not a good fuel for every day use in automobiles unless they were designed for it.  There is a power and resulting mileage issue with ethanol because of it's BTU content.  Simply, more has to be used to get comparable performance width gasoline. Ethanol does damage rubber and other gasket and sealing materials. But, I must disagree that there is corn starch in ethanol.  Starch cannot survive the production process.  If it is in there it was added later.

Works great and have run gas over 10 years old before without a problem.
