1970 E-Body Mirrors
« on: November 27, 2012 - 12:02:30 PM »
I`ve got a 1970 Challenger RT with a driver side only painted rally mirror.I bought a repro passenger mirror but it`s a little different than the driver side.Is that the way it should be? My 70 Cuda has duel chrome rally mirrors and they look the same.Is the difference only on the painted mirrors?  Thanks

I am pretty sure they are different for 70 only.  the driver side is shorter and wider, where the passenger side is taller and not as wide.  Not sure about the chrome mirrors though.

Sounds to me like the 70 Cuda has the wrong passenger side mirror on it ,  the first difference is the base length , the 70 had a short base 3.5" approx long just a bit longer then the screw holes , the 71 up had more like a 5" base , as stated above the 70 only  had an Oval mirror on the drivers side & a tear drop shape pointed at the outside edge on the passenger side Painted or Chrome , 71 up was oval both sides . I have seen the 70 passenger mirrors sell for well over $300

Or it may never have had the right side mirror, my SE for example had no right mirror & with the extra small back window had a huge blind spot , I added the correct 70 mirror , I just felt it is a nessessity & should have been part of the SE pkg
