throttle cable
« on: December 16, 2012 - 07:44:08 PM »
I can order a new shorter or adjustable one but need it now, so can I shorten this one ?

Thinking I could carefully cut the plastic coated wire hollow cable being carefull not to cut the throttle cable. Take a section ,for example 2", out, and re crimp the wire at peddle end. Anyone tried this ? With xmas mail a new one would be 2 weeks away.
 All ideas welcome
Thanks tony

Is the original cable and was linked to a 2 barrel carb on a 318. With the 383, performer manifold and 4 barrel it is too long by about 2".
Times like this I wish I lived in the USA. Am in little NZ  :nzflag:. Post will take up to 10 days.
Will have another look at cable.
Thanks Neil,
tony

so why is it too long , most cables have a coil between the firewall & throttle cable bracket to allow for some engine movement , , if the throttle cable will not pull the throttle open fully you can slide the outer housing back in the throttle cable bracket

I'm wondering if you have the right (or one that will work?) bracket at the carb?  Got a picture of the carb set up?

Friend came out and made an extention to the stock bracket. Works great. Thanks for the feedback fellers.
