I didn't exactly win the Pow'r Ball but, I'll take anything I can get. Today, my wife received a substantial gift (really award?) certificate in the mail and from a car show she entered her GTO in, months ago (the show organizers must be great people for them to get it to her even though it got misplaced and then found).
Anyhoo, the certificate is for just about anything McLeod; I just happen to be shopping for a clutch replacement kit for my '73 Challenger; and, wife says, "Happy Holidays!"
Here's my first (of 3) question: Which McLeod clutch kit would you recommend for the softest pedal but still suitable for a holding (and lasting) with 440 Magnum? Our Challenger will NOT be raced but will, on occassion, be 'exercised healthily' <sly grin>
(Note: 4 speed, since we last spoke, I have ascertained my flywheel is 130 count tooth and the clutch fork appears to be right around 10-3/4" overall length.
Q-2: Also, do you fellow C-C members recommend 1" / 23-spline or 1-3/16" 18-spline for a '73 Challenger with a non-original 440 in it?
Or, does it matter if I'm not going to be racing her? (If it doesn't matter much, guess I'll just stick whats coming out of it, a 1" 23-spline)
Lastly, I am trying to discern which gear ratio I should tell Brewers I want my rebuilt to have. Considering I intend to stick to street use with only the occassional "opening up", which of the following would you recommend, respectively:
23-spline choices:
CLOSE RATIO 2.47 LOW GEAR RATIO
STANDARD 2.66 LOW GEAR RATIO
3.09 LOW GEAR RATIO
18-spline choices:
CLOSE RATIO 2.44 LOW GEAR RATIO
STANDARD 2.65 LOW GEAR RATIO
Thanks much and in advance!
