rebuild carter hi perf fuel pump?
« on: January 05, 2013 - 12:15:40 PM »
anybody ever rebuilt a carter street strip high volume mechanical fuel pump for a big block? the one i have worked good for a long time then not long ago it started pumping way to much pressure i mean like 15lbs! a new pump from mancini is probably 120 bucks once i get it and a rebuild kit is about half that. good idea to rebuild or am i just being cheap?

Brandon, laddie. We prefer to not think of it as "cheap", but as frugal, thrifty! Och aye!  If rebuilding it wasn't a good idea, they wouldn't offer rebuild kits, now would they? Good luck   :2cents:

Holley makes cheap fuel pump discharge regulators! control the pressure with that.
