new plan
« on: April 05, 2013 - 05:20:22 PM »
Ok guys, as some of you know i was working a deal with a guy in colorado for a pretty nice 71 chally, but since that has fallen through, I am officially on the hunt, i'm looking for a 70 or 71 challenger or cuda/barracuda.  Not looking for anything special option wise, i dont care which motor or trans, #1 thing is it needs to be driveable!  I know the odds of finding the quality of car that i previously had for my budget is slim, but i still need to try.  At the moment i have 14k to spend.  Just for kicks, i would really prefer a smallblock 4spd :)  but hey, i'm not picky!.  Thanks so much guys, you all have been so helpful over the last year, and i appreciate everything you guys do.  Thanks again!

Seemed like you were really close to striking a deal on the Blackhawk Chally. What were you guys - something like $800 beans apart or something? You didn't burn that bridge did you? :nono: Cause if I was the owner of that Chally and you came to me with $14.2K but my bottom line was $15K I'd work with you. I'd say something like give me a deposit and I will hold it for you for 30 days or something until you can get the rest together. $800 beans - you are so close on this one.  :2cents:
Cheers!

yea he wont budge, he pulled his ad, and basically said if i came up with the remaining 800 in the next 2 weeks he would still sell to me, but i have all my bills do over the next 10 days, and only 1pay day, so raking in an extra 800 isnt gonna happen.  I told him if he ever decides to sell down the line gimme a call

Negotiate. Doesn't sound like he is in a hurry to sell so that's good for you (and bad) in that it gives you more time. Give him a deposit and tell him you need 30 days or so to get it all together. Then for the next month, brown-bag your lunch, ride the bus, clip coupons, sell off stuff on ebay, do what you got to do to close the gap and then give him a call. You're really close here Scott.
Cheers!

:thinkerg: Maybe we (C-C.com members) can help Scott out? Scott's a young guy with a family and you all remember how it was. If everyone could send Scott a buck or two he can achieve his dream. Think about it, for less than the cost of your morning coffee you could help a brother out. If Scott has a PayPal account it would be easy to do. Think of it as a "scholarship" for up and coming young guns. With over 11,000 members Scott would have his $800 in no time and be on his way to Colorado to pick up his new Chally.
Cheers!

I really appreciate the thought Tom.  emialed him this morning to ask him if he was interested in anything on trade for the difference, he said no, and said the more he thinks about it the less he wants to sell it, so i called him and we talked for about 15 minutes and he has definitely decided to keep it.  Its no big deal, if I take the money for my car this guy has offered, maybe i can put away a few more bucks over the next year or so and i'll be able to get back into it.
