which brake kit ?

 i want to get some more stopping power, ive read about the 11 3/4'' wich interests me but by the time i buy the adapters and rotors i could probably get an aftermarket kit for a couple hundred more. i need rims anyway so i'm leaning towards an aftermarket set, plus i like the look of the drilled/slotted rotors. anyone have advice on what kit? my brakes are manual and i would be willing to go up to a 17'' rim.
 is there a huge difference going to the 11 3/4 ?

The weak part about going from the 10.87 to the 11.75 is the caliper.  You will get slightly better stopping power, and more fade resistance.  The best I did on a big front brake kit was about $900 (Baer system with PBR calipers, bought used and had to buy the missing components from Baer).  I have $300 in converting over my 10.87s to 11.75s.  New rotors were about $150, bearing spacers for the 71 spindles to use 73+ discs $50, and $75 for the pin type caliper adapters. (Reused the calipers and pads as they were in great shape).  The other $25 is probably on taxes. 

Tires and wheels is the major expense. I bought the summit cast 17x9s for $600 and my 275/40s for $700.  My 15x7s were ~$100 and the tires cost me $300.

My next expense is the Baer 11.7" rear disc kit to compliment my front kit.  That's $650 at Jeg's.

Oh just as a note, I needed new rotors for my Challenger when I got it so I figured why not upgrade while I am in there.  Didn't spend that much more than just getting new 10.87 rotors.

I just put the Baer Decela drilled and slotted rotors and kept the stock calipers and installed Bendix ceramic pads. Picked up the rotors from AutoAnything, pads from Summit. Definitely better than stock. Unless you are auto crossing or regularly pushing your brakes to the limit, I'll bet it would be all you need. :2cents:

are these the 10.87'' or the 11.75'' ?

 i found drilled and slotted 11.75'' rotors but i'm contimplateing weather i should use my stock calipers or spring another $300 for a set of wilwoods? i also see that the viper calipers can be used [ wich i would prefer ] but it appears the spindle would have to be changed over to the drum spindle?

 sooo many options.  :dunno:

 ive been doing some research and as usual the sky is the limit, or should i say my wallet is the limit. if i was willing to spend $1500, what would be the best combo.
1:   11.75'' rotors, factory calipers, hydroboost
2:   11.75'' rotors, wilwood calipers, rear disc kit
3:   13'' front disc kit

I am about to start this purchasing project too. I am leaning towards the SSBC setup. Stainless Steel Brakes#884-W156-7BK from Jegs - $629 without the master and booster. This is the COMP S Street Kit. The other one is the Stainless Steel Brakes A156-2BK - Stainless Steel Brakes Classic Front 4-Piston Drum to Disc Brake Conversion Kit - it is $1048 without master and booster and seems to come with cast iron calipers and non drilled or big bite rotors. Anyone know the reason for the difference in price? I Emailed SSBC but have not heard from them yet. I was also trying to find out how much either kit changes the track width.

I bought the generic 4 wheel disc kit with slotted and drilled upgrade, stock front rotor diameter and single piston caliper. rear single piston( gm style) I drive my car a lot and do not drive it slow, these brakes work wonderful !!!  I did all the hotchkis stuff and it turns and stops like a go-cart now. Unless you are doing some serious autocross , I do not see a need for huge rotors and multi-piston calipers. although pretty calipers look nice through large wheels.

I was leaning towards the bigger money kits with 13" and so on.....  I think I paid like 1200 for all including master and booster? glad I did not over-do it.

You may also consider Viper front calipers using 11.75x1.25 C-body rotors, and DrDiff's adapters... more heavy-duty setup, relatively low cost overall..maybe ~$500 total?  And, DrDiff's 10.7 rear econo disc (using the preferred tapered bearings -- very important!).   That's what I'm planning to do eventually.. able to still use my 15x8 vintagee mini-lite "street" rims, and my 16x10 race rims for competition autox/road course events... stepping up to 17" rims gets costly (same/worse for 18".. may eventually get 17 or 18s but very cost consuming.. rims/tires.. to what I already have).   The Summit 17x9 rims are a bargain and correct with proper offset to allow 275-40-17 tires front and rear.   And, if I'm correct as just informed, the C-body rotors slightly move inwards ~.25" so you don't have additional outward fender lip concerns.  I think Viper calipers up front will look the best and they perform well.   I suggest/recommend to contact DrDiff.
Autocross/road racers go in deeper... and come out harder!
