what made all e-body trunks rot out...?   

I think it was from really pathetic taillight seals. Sorry, didn't mean to highjack this.

i bought brand new tail light seal but yes they look like seal that absorb water..to you put back those seal or there is a different and better one.

FWIW .....

I was told by a really reliable mopar source that the seam was on the bottom.
However - it was offset to the center about 2-3 inches.

I have known this guy for nearly 35 years ....  He said that most cars left with the seal/joint centered, but a good bit of them had the joint offset...

so ....   who really knows ...
The thing he was really sure of was it is on the bottom.

Here is an excerpt from the factory assembly drawings.  It shows the seam is at the latch area.

if you're talking about me .. i just did not want to start another topic for a question thats can be answers here and that may help someone that is installing is weatherstrip and will have a isue with his trunk ajustement.

i wonder witch comment it the more useless...  :-X
