Turn signal and ignition switch
« on: March 11, 2013 - 10:44:43 PM »
I have a 70 challenger just found out it has a 71 thru 74 steering column. I am going to order the turn signal, ignition and key switch for it. Just wondering if all three take the same part number. Oh it does not have tilt steering.

Thanks

70 only on the turn signal switch. The emergency flasher part is a different size.  You have ac and non ac ignition switch, ac one has more wires and more prone to melting. Color codes may be a little different than the 70, I believe the actual key with the mechanism is the same on 70/74  but may be a cosmetic look difference I cant remember.  Is your ignition switch bad?  A member here / friend of everyone here, rebuilds factory switches and wires. Does them perfect. His name is  JIM  his member name is Slotts.  He also does all the switches on your dash panel and has a bunch in stock ,ost of the time.

the ign switch is the same year to year , the ign lock is not , different retainer types
Standard part # TW7 works for the turn signal switch but has the larger hazard button which can be trimmed down for 70 or will work as is 71-74

Just found out that I have a 71-74 steering column in my 70 challenger. My question is as far as the wires matching up where they connect to the dash harness are they the same? So If i buy a turn signal switch for a 71 sreeing column it will work it will work on my 70 dash harness?  I think so but want to make sure before i order it.

Thanks

I went to Rock Auto and they sell two types of ignition Locks. I am guessing one is for tilt steering the other is non tilt. I have a non tilt steering 71-74 steering column. Could anyone tell which one I need.

Thanks

No tilt steering wheels in E-Bodies, but I'm not sure which of the remaining choices would work.    :dunno:
