moral delima
« on: March 08, 2005 - 10:05:48 AM »
Hey folks!I have a moral delima i need to get cleared up here! First of all im new here and I just gotta say I love it! But know to the point I have two jobs, two cars to fix, a wife, and and go to school full time hince I dont have the time nor the money to fix both cars! Now to the delima! One of my cars is my baby my first love an 1975 dodge dart swinger, and my other car is a 1972 cuda petty blue 318 3 speed! Well one has to go!  :'( and well it aint gonna be the cuda! It was my dream car all time favorite car! I LOVE THEM!! You get the point! Well when i was 15 i couldnt find much less afford a cuda so i bought the dart instead and fell in love with it! Well i dont want to sell the dart but i need money for the cuda!! any info of what i should do would be helpfull! But if someone out there wants a 75 dart swinger that will promise and swear to restore it and not cut it up and put it on a circle dirt track i will consider selling it! Know for the good stuff! The dart is a slant 6 cars which is long gone i pulled it for a 360! The engine compartment in primer needs paint! The interior is 100% stock its is white in really good shape needs dash pad, carpet and headliner, Back seats are perfect front seats could use recovering! The outs side is in good shape its is very straight with online one frustation dent :banghead: ( my fault) quarters have bondo but are straight! I have a complete 360 engine! it is a 2 barrel motor! but complete good heads needs honed! pistens etc (rebuild kit)  If anyone is interested write back and i will give you my phone number! and we will talk prices!! Thanks alot everyone!

My response is don't sell either

You are going to school right? So that leads me to believe one day hopefuly soon you will have a well paying job to replace the current 2 ( unless you realy like killing yourself for a living ).

My own personal experience - I had a 69 Coronet. Loved the thing. Built the 440 in it myself with scrap parts and what little I could scrape up here and there. I worked day at a machine shop, night at a REALY crappy gas stratiion and when I wasn't at the crappy gas station was attending night classes for tool and die.
I sold my car convinced I would never have the cash/time. Guess what - nothing lasts forever and now I have a fair amount of both resources.
I will never make the same mistake with my Challenger.

If both cars mean something to you, even if it will be 10 years from now, hang on to them. They are not going anywhere and neither are you.
Good luck
Jeff from Cleveland, Ohio

I feel your pain, but you are doing the right thing. If you're trying to buy a house it will give you the opportunity to park the car somewhere you can call your own. You're wife if she truly loves you, will respect the fact that your love of cars is not greater than family commitment. When you are established then go out and buy the cars that you want, probably with less aggrivation. I told my wife on her birthday that I wanted to buy my pink car, and her response was go for it. Just my $.02.
