Car came with no keys

I've just realized that my car has no keys with it.    I suppose I can purchase a new key switch for the column and matching locks for the doors and trunk?    Maybe that is a good thing to eliminate any electrical issues with the old switch.  Is this stuff available through the aftermarket suppliers?

You could have a locksmith make a key for the ignition. If done right, it will work in all of the other cylinders. What electrical issues do
you think you may have with the lock cylinder?

I was thinking there could be electrical issues with the ignition switch, not so much the lock cylinders themselves,  as long as they are not stuck from years of neglect

A locksmith can make you a key , how did youget the c`ar there without though , steering should be locked ?
The locks may still match after 40 years but do not bet on it , not hard to have them all keyed alike again though .
The Ign lock & the electrical switch are different units , the lock drives the switch but has nothing to do with the electrical part .

Oh I see.  You can tell I haven't messed with it much.    On our farm equipment the key switches have all the electrical on the switch and can cause problems after years of service.  Thanks for your help.  By the way my steering column is not locked,  I winched right up on the trailer and steered it both ways.

A good locksmith will pull a door cylinder and code the ignition off it. If you drove the car with the steering lockout not engaged, either you are in the "on" position or you've got larger problems.
