Where are they now??
« on: March 14, 2013 - 02:16:39 PM »
Koby Prater's great thread http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=89547.0 on this board got me thinking about where some of my past Mopar rides may be now. Are they still out there somewhere? Or are they rusted, wrecked, or junked? If they are out there, where are they and what would it take to buy them back now a days (assuming that they were for sale)?

I was lucky enough to have owned a HemiCuda from '83 to '86. In '86 I sold it to Joe Pacheco of Pleasanton CA who held onto it for a number of years before selling it himself. Where it is now I have no idea. It doesn't matter for even if it was for sale I simply couldn't afford to buy it back anyway  :crying:.

However, the '70 Challenger convertible (318/auto) that I bought after I sold the 'Cuda I did find and it is apparently alive and well in Sweden. What's up with all of these Mopars being shipped overseas anyway?? I found it on the following website http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=sv&sl=sv&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mopar70.com%2F. If you click in the "Challenger Register" box a drop-down menu appears allowing you to search various years and models of the Challenger and that's how I found it. Here is what it looks like now http://66.7.215.34/~mopar70/html/register/bilder70/PAU144.jpg. Wonder what it would take to bring this one back from overseas like Koby did??

On the flip side I learned of the somewhat grisly fate of a '68 Super Bee (383/4-spd) I once owned. I heard from a friend of mine that the Super Bee had blown it's engine and was subsequently abandoned by the owner. The city picked it up and had it towed to the fire department training area to be used as a training device. They set it on fire and practiced putting it out  :crying:. What an inglorious fate for what was once a pretty nice Super Bee.

Wonder where the rest of them are??

I've often wondered about that as well. Interesting that my very first Mopar I had right out of high school is still in the hands of the guy I sold it to. It was a 318 1972 Barracuda that I cloned into a 340 Cuda with big mags etc...
I sold it in 1989 for big bucks! $8500... :smilielol:  Even now, with all the great cars I've owned since...I don't have any interest in buying it back...I talked to him last Summer and he looking at replacing the 25 year old Macco paint job....I told him the car wasn't worth the cost of restoration these days...sad really...

I miss my Superbird which I sold for $40k in 1999  :22yikes:

But mostly I miss my 71 Cuda convertible that I sold in 1990 for $25K.....I vowed that if there was ever a car that will be my "keeper" it will be another 71 Cuda convertible....

I had a '71 Barracuda convertible (318/auto) once. It was Tor Red with white interior and a white top. Nice car and I wouldn't mind having that one back either. Only problem is my brother borrowed it and crashed it into a tree late one Saturday night. My brother survived the accident ok but the car was totaled. Now a days it probably could have been saved, but back in the early '80's all the necessary resto parts simply were not available and the car was flat-bedded to the junkyard.

I know one of them is in my garage    The guy I bought it from didn`t have name or address of the person he bought it from so the trail  ends there. I`d love to know a bit more of the history of my car.
