2008 Viper Engine/Trans into My 1970 Challenger
« on: February 26, 2013 - 10:19:39 PM »
Hi,
I am new to the site and a new mopar owner.  I have a few other hotrods.  I have a 1970 Challenger thats pretty solid 318 car.  I have purchased a 2008 viper engine, trans, wiring harness, gauges, fuel tank and computer.  Just looking for some tips on my project.  I plan to keep the engine stock since you cant mess with performance on the computer on this package.  I have the car torn down to a shell, I had to cut the trans tunnel to fit the monster 6060 Tremic 6-speed.  I have tubular suspension from RMS up front and there 4 link in rear with a Strange Dana 60.  Bear 14" brakes all the way around the car.

Do you guys out there have any pics, info, or anything to advise on this project? I have to make my engine mounts next, they have to go to the inner fender shock tower area.  I plan on bracing the front, rear, and back with subframe connectors to stiffen up the unibody.  This 70 Challenger will really become a CHALLENGE!!!

Your going to have to cut the firewall too. If you want it to handle good, you'll need to set the engine back. The V10's pretty long and you don't want it hanging out past the front axle to far, even if it is aluminum.
