I might be a little strange, but I mostly am only drawn to cars I have known, or driven, or admired at some time in my life.
Its the very rare car that was made before I was born ('57) that I'll take the time to check out, unless there is something really cool or historical about it. I have owned lots of different cars including honda, acura, toyota, triumph, porsche, vw, fiat, chevy, ford (thankfully only one, the absolute worst of all), and for the past 15-18 years or so I have owned about 10 different dodges or chryslers (and one extinct plymouth!)
I guess you could say I have become wiser with age, but I really enjoyed owning almost every car, and though I check out all the mopars first at any show, I will spend a lot of time looking at others too. The last thing I am is a snob. I have nothing but good things to say about other cars, and if anything I am usually too nice. A few times I have told guys who came up to me and gushed over my car at a show that I thought their ride was nicer than mine, even though we both knew it wasnt. Nothing wrong with a few white lies.

btw, I hope to have my wife bring my Stealth to the florida mopar nats next weekend in Ft Lauderdale. I will of course bring the cuda.
But, even though the stealth was clearly sold by dodge, and proudly wears the badges on the car, most dont consider it a true Mopar. Some people, purists I guess, actually get a little personal about it. I dont know why. All I know is they get judged, even at the nationals, so far as I am concerned, thats all I need to know that they must be a Mopar.

Point is, some Mopar guys take this hobby very seriously, and for me, actually a little too seriously.

I'm all mopar. My hobby cars and daily drivers. I can respect an awesome car of a different make, but it does nothing for me. I've never owned a foreign car. Nothing personal, that's just how I roll.

Car guys are difficult to judge and most are definitely oriented to one make or another but in general my observations are:
*Mopar guys like all cars, prefer Mopar but wll look at all the others.
*GM guys will, after looking at all the GM's and maybe a few Fords will take a look at Mopars on the way out
*Ford guys will, after looking at all the Fords for the humpteenth time will drive out looking the other way as they go past the Mopars.

This is so true.  You would think the ford guys suffer from some sort of inferiority complex or something.

Years ago I think there used to more division regarding makes-Mopar guys didn`t like Chevies,Ford guys only liked Fords etc. but now most people at shows seem to enjoy and appreciate all makes.I have been all Mopar for a long time but previosly owned a few Fords and my first car was a `68 Chevelle SS so I really like anything with an engine and wheels that goes fast and/or looks cool but prefer `60s-`70s musclecars ecspecially Mopars. There still are some "clics" like the newer vette guys, tuners and such but overall a true car guy likes them all.

Around here the most fussy/purist types are AMC guys.... wow !
I too enjoy all the other brands it's just I'm so sick and tired of Camaro's ( any year ) and the 79-90 something  mustangs.  I'd love to own a 69 Fastback mustang and a 70-71 Torino and the new GT40
99% of all car people are great and I enjoy meeting new people. It's really nice to see younger people getting into it.  I've owned more GM's that any other brand I guess. What bothers me with GM is they seem to be trying to get by on what they made years ago. Resting on their laurels so to speak? Other than their trucks new Camaro, and vette   .... what have they done? Built a fleet of disposable bic lighter rental sleds IMO  :puke:  I really liked the G-Bodys from 79-87 for  solid reliable transportation.
Ford and Mopar seem to " have it going on" styling wise now IMO. GM just sucks!
What I love about classic musclecar Mopars is all the styling cues, like the pistol grip shifters, air grabber hoods, cool hood scoops, kick a$$ drivetrains, ralley rims, beep beep horns, nice interiors,  etc......  Mopar just has the best "stuff" hands down IMO!
Mopar really sucked in the 1980's , I guess thats why I went to GM's then.
I've  wanted a 70 Challenger since I was 9 years old. Now that I finally have one...... everything else seems just ..... ok?  For me it just dosen't get any better, it's not about money or the value, its just my most favourite car of all time.

When I take the Challenger or the Cuda to a show it seems that everybody wants to check it out. It doesn't matter how nasty they look, people want to see them. For people to stop and look at a Chevy or a Ford there has to be something special about the car like a big engine or cool paint.
I trailered the Challenger to a Corvette show a few months ago since the insurance expired and I'm still kicking out a few gremlins. When I was rolling it off the trailer a guy came up and asked me if I knew it was a Corvette show and I told him sure, but people might want to see something cool. Then I noticed his Corvette t-shirt. He asked what I had in it so I told him a nasty looking 440 with one black valve  cover and one orange, orange overspray on the intake and an oil leak from the back of one of the covers. I had a nice straight run to my parking spot so I left a 30 foot long pair of black marks, parked the car, and opened the hood. Everybody was coming over to check out the car, and commenting on the "It may be ugly, but it's still a 440" written on top of the air cleaner.

I can walk past a dozen Mustangs at a show, but if there's a fast back, or a 69-70 Mach 1 I stop and drool for a while, there are a few other cars that I'll do that for too, but it doesn't happen often. It all depends on how a car is done up. One of my favorite cars to see at the shows is an old beat up 40's or 50's something with a loaded roof rack, and primer patches everywhere.

Last year, Cancer Sucks put on a local car show fund raiser.  Word got out that so few Mopars attended that they where not even giving out a Mopar trophy any more.  They had completely eleminated the Mopar category from their judging.  My Modern Mopar club could not let that happen!  We rallied to show up in force.  There where 80-90 cars there in total.  30 of them ended up being Mopars!  We had so many show up that it forced them to reinstate the Mopar category.  One of our club cars even won best in show.

I think it is really easy to fall into a car that is more avilable like a Mustang or Camaro.  It is much harder when the cars are rare.  When you do find one, it may take a lot of time and money to get it into a nice condition.  It is hard to argue with a 1969 Mach 1.  Very nice cars to look at.  I still think that if money was no object, most Ford and Chevy guys would rather have a Mopar.

Just for the record, The first car that I ever bought was my 1971 'Cuda.  All the cars that I have ever bought have been Mopar with the exception of just one.  I bought a 1979 Mazda RX-7 to use as a beater when I was in collage and lived in an apartment with out a garage.
