Mopar Muscle April 2013 Feature
« on: February 23, 2013 - 04:12:12 PM »
I received my Mopar Muscle mag a few days ago and was exited about one of the feature articles. It's Titled Havasu Hemi. It's a 72 Challenger rebuilt using a donor 2006 Charger. The owner Jim Ford (Lake Havasu City, Airizona) not only used the 5.7 but also the 5-sp Nag1 transmission as well. Would like to know how he got it to work. He swapped in the Charger's modern harware, wiring, cabin, and electronics He does state in the article that he had to lower the floor board about 4 inches to aaccomodate the Charger seats (he is just over six ft tall). I would also like to know what he did to the floor board as I plan on using the seats out of a new Challenger and I am 6'4" (need the headroom). Does any one know this man and if so how I may be able to get in touch with him. Or does he photos of this build somewhere on the net. I have had no luck in my search.

Not sure about the build you are talking about but if someone is re-bodying a new car it is not an issue to get it all to work. When you try to transplant and maintain most of the 70s personality it becomes more difficult. We have a standalone transmission controller we are testing right now for the Nag1 5 speed. This will make the trans plants much simpler.

I would be interested in the transcontroller. My vehicle is currently at the bare metal stage and before it is E-coated I was going to a 4-speed hump installed.I had planned on using a Passon 5-speed when it comes out. Dave do you haver an idea as to how far out you guys are?

We are testing our race version right now. Should be testing the street tune in the next 4 weeks or so. Still need to do pricing. Will try to keep in loop.
