steering box part #`s

I can`t seem to find any info on casting - part numbers when it comes to steering boxes.  Mine is toast and I have a lead on another unit locally.
numbers on mine :       0-2267262  70cuda
numbers on seller`s  :  1-3843311  supposed to be 72 challenger
At this point I`m not even sure if this is a power unit.... I will call him tomorrow.
they both have the small ( 1 1/8" ...? ) output shaft.  What`s the difference between the two, and can I use it on my car?

If the Shaft is the same size they should interchange no probs.

I have a parts interchange manual for 68-74 Mopar.  I don't see either of those numbers.  Her's what it lists:
70 E-body manual  2537726
70 E-body power   2537397
72      "     manual  2537347
72      "     power    2948991

   weird... I do know for a fact my own box works... apart from the leak that is.

so, I finally get the steeringbox in the mail,  guess what... it`s got the bigger `72 -up output shaft       how difficult is it to measure a shaft ?     I hope he didn`t do this on purpose, and will refund   

not sure what to do right now... these boxes not that easy to find here. Cant afford a firmfeel now plus returning my old one to them isn`t an option.
I`ve been playing with the idea of converting it to manual steering... still need the box, but it might give me a better chance in finding one 

I do have the shop manual, but slight barrier in tech language and a lack of special tools give me headaches before even getting started

70-71 small spline pitman arms cost alot last time I looked.

I switched my box to the bigger shaft just because I found out that 72' and up were way better on pricing than the up to 71' pitman arms.

Got me a rebuild kit and tore the box apart yesterday.   What I found really surprised me.... the output shaft is supported by 2 needle bearings. The upper bearing was missing a piece of the cage on the bottom side.  That resulted in all needles had dropped down into the housing    I did find evidence of previous surgery, so maybe something went wrong putting things back together    Still cant believe how well it still felt with that bearing missing, but it sure feels a LOT better now.  I hope to get it back into the car this week but we`ve got a bunch of cold coming in today again, so I might end up in front of the fireplace instead...
