LOL, Nice Mullet you have there Brad.  You still have me beat.  Look at how dorky I looked!

Not dorky as long as you're standing next to that Cuda.   Noticed the Vette in the background.  Any history there between the Cuda and the Vette?? :worshippy

The vette belonged to my neighbor.  He was some 40 year old dude and I was like 15/16 years old.  He did not hang out in the same circles as my friends and me.  I did admire the vette from afar.  It was nice.

I got my drivers license in August of '78 and spent months afterwards hunting for a T/A Challenger or a AAR cuda for my first car.  Finally found a T/A that I could afford with the money I'd saved up from odd jobs for the last 2 or 3 years.  This was December and in Chicago.  The start of the worst winter in Chicago's history! It gets better, my new ride had near bald rear tires!  Somehow we managed to survive for a couple weeks, but not before I'd had a few near misses and also backed into my mom's car parked across the street from our house in the street narrowed by the plowing.
The car got progressively harder to start over those 2 weeks or so, finally wouldn't start.  My dad helped me change the plugs which were fouled up, and we got the car into the driveway, but he said we should wait until the weather got better to figure out why the plugs fouled so fast, so the car sat buried under a snowbank until the weather got better in late March!  The engine had recently been rebuilt and it turned out they hadn't put a thermostat in it, the temp guage had never budged and I assumed the guage was broken LOL!
My mom got a new car the next fall, and sold me her Pinto which I used as a beater and winter car from then on.  Door still dented from where I'd backed into it the previous December.

My first car was '71 chevy Vega. I traded a motorcycle for it and talked my dad into signing the titles as I was only 13 at the time.  It didn't run at all, but overall was in very good shape. I tinkered with it for three years trying to get it to run without any luck, so I had dad sell it. When I finally got my license, I took to driving my mom's Olds Omega, but had my heart set on a mopar. The Super Stock Cudas and Darts were just too cool to pass up so I was on the hunt for an A body Cuda. I did look at several of them, most in the $500-800 range, which in the early 80s was a poor to fair condition driver. After striking out for most the summer, my dad finally said I could have the keys to his '68 Road Runner that he bought new in the fall of '68. I ended up driving that daily for the next 6 years before deciding to park it and let it rest. I went back to my dad who still has it.
