    Tan cover with two blade electrical terminals on vacuum advance?

    On my 1970 440 6 pack Challenger, there is a tan "box" with terminals...see pics...with no wires attached. What is this for?

    Electronic vacuum advance. I know 71's had it, never knew 70's did... :clueless:

    One wire shares the ground wire with the ground from the idol stop solenoid, and the other plugs into the engine harness.

    In 1971 it would have been on a Prestolite dual point distributor.

    It retards the timing about 7 degress when the throttle is closed at idle. I've seen this on a 70 New Yorker with a 440 and on my 71 road runner with a 383. I haven't seen one work after 40 years the coil is usually burned open.
