Finally!!
« on: March 28, 2013 - 10:46:07 AM »
Finally after riding around for the last 2 years (almost), I have a NEW solenoid actuated exhaust cutout valve. I found this one from Summit Racing. I drove my Challenger from Virginia to Carlisle two summers ago. I made the trip with absolutely no problems. On my way home and literally about 5 miles from the house; I was traveling behind a tractor trailor in a tunnel when he had something come off the truck (or drove over something already in the road), I ran over it  :scared: (kinda hard to swerve in a tunnel) and the debris sheared off the solenoid valve on my driver's side exhaust cutout valve.  :swear: It scared the poop out of me! When I was able to pull over all that was left was two wires. The problem was finding just ONE new solenoid and not the whole kit as I already had the wiring and the passenger side solenoid. So I wired shut the valve until now. I think the car is getting LOUDER!!  :woo:

Even though this one is almost identical in dimensions to the one that was damaged, it seems that the flapper on the new coutout valve is about 1/8" bigger in diameter. I've had to grind down the weld slag/bumps from the inside of the exhaust piping where the flanges are welded on to prevent it from hitting. I should be done with this project in time for the weekend Mopar show!!  :woo: :clapping: :bananasmi

:clapping:  Nice!  Someday I'd like to get a pair too , then make a T/A style side exhaust to hook into them.
