anti rattle clips
« on: March 30, 2013 - 01:10:19 AM »
I couldn't wait any longer and took the Challenger for a drive tonight.  I've got some rattles I need to take car of.  The main rattle is from the brake pads.  I don't remember taking any anti rattle clips off the car when I took it apart so there's nothing on there now.  Since these are making so much noise I assume something is supposed to be there.  So what did 73's use?  Did they use the two V clips on the caliper pins or did they use one big clip on the outside of the caliper?

I see that Bill Rolik sells the V clips but he has them listed for 70-71.

If your '73 is like mine and has pin type calipers, there is a pic of anlauto's calipers that shows the anti rattle springs. I never used them on my car and never noticed a rattle though.

What type does your car use Jamie?  73's used the pin type.  Mine are rattling BAD.  I thought it was the trim rings but it's the pads.

You know, I've never had them off so I'm not sure.  I'll jack it up later today and pull off a wheel and find out.  I'll post pictures.

Thanks for the pics.  I think I'll look for that clip and see if it makes a difference.  I can see that the clip would hold the outer pad tight but it woudn't do anything for the inner pad.  I think that's where the V clips come into play.
