Gas is leaking badly at sending unit to gas tank. Is there a gasket that can be replaced? Where do I get it?

Is the tank original? A lot of people have had problems with the new lock rings. They are a little thinner. The new gaskets are a little thinner too. That adds up to a leak.

Try your original lock ring.  I did not have a problem using a new lock ring, new sender, with the gasket it came with.  I did notice though that the rubber gasket did not center too well and I had to manipulate it during install to keep it centered.

I didn't have a problem with mine either but a lot of people have. Try the original lock ring.

I just bought the car and it had the new sending unit already installed, so I don't have the factory ring. any suggestions?

make sure as others have said that your rubber washer is in good shape and that your lock ring is clean and that it is "locked into place".

rubber washer

clean up the lock ring

make sure the lock ring is snugged tight so it seals  (picture of before i took the sending unit out and cleaned stuff up)

To take up the slack with a new lock ring you might try two gaskets?  :2cents:
