power quarter windows
« on: April 09, 2013 - 05:29:18 PM »
I was cleaning my quarter power window assy. and found that there are different springs on them from one side to the other. :clueless:
One side is a lighter gauge and only has 4 coils while the other is heavy gauge and has 5 coils. I have owned the car since 1980 and it seems to not have been tampered with in that area,  the sound deading was all over these parts before I cleaned them as well plastic sheet covering under the panel.  Anyone know what spring is correct? The windows did work in 1983 when the car was last running, but I don't remember how well!!

Find yourself a pair of manual crank units (rear E-body units )& use the springs from them. I checked this once & found them to be compadable to these. Just install the spring whichever way fits best & power the unit before you install it.
