Gas Tank Renu or Buy New
« on: April 15, 2013 - 01:37:34 PM »
Has anyone used Gas Tank Renu (http://www.gastankrenu.com/index.htm) to salvage their original gas tank?  I'm debating on renewing or buying new.  Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Go with a new one.  It's not worth the risk and they aren't that much money anymore if your not doing a concours restoration and need an original one.  Just my opinion.

Thanks Dave.  I was thinking the same but would I need to do any prep work to a new tank?  Or just buy and install it?

Nope just buy and install no prepping necessary.  I will even have them powder coated.  Only cost me about $40.00 up in Maryland.

New tanks aren't that expensive,  and I believe the best deals may be from Rockauto,  just remember when installing the pickup tube to resue the original lockring as the repos are somewhat thinner and don't seem to tighten down as well as an original.   Daveh,, where in md?
