71-74 rallye clock
« on: April 04, 2013 - 03:14:35 PM »
Anyone on here replace the guts of their 71-74 rallye clock. I'm having trouble figuring out how to remove the clock set stem. (The stem you pull out on to set the hour and minutes). How does it come off?  :dunno:

You will need a small jewelers screw driver, but it's held on by a small screw in the knob.

I mean the actual stem, not the decorative piece that fits on it. I'm disassembling the clock, at least trying to, to fit a quartz movement. I've got the hands off, the face removed, and trying to figure out how the stem is removed so I can open the clock case to remove the guts.

If you are replacing the clock with a new modern guts then there should be a blow by blow description of how to do it. I know my R/T Eng one came with good instructions except I used different aircraft rivets on the face with my squeezers as the ones they sent were difficult.

Well, as I figured out, you don't remove that stem. Got the guts out and am re-assembling. Hopefully it will work.
The instructions that came with mine are kind of generic. Tells you more or less what to do but not an exact description.
