Dutch Challenger owner needs help
« on: March 14, 2005 - 03:52:18 PM »
Hello I am a Dutch ’71 Challenger owner and wanting to buy new rims and tires.  I am looking for Centerline autodrag wheels and I plan on getting 15 x 7 in the front and 15 x 8.5 in the back.  On the rear I will be putting 265/60/R15 tires. In the front I want 225/65/R15.
I don't want the tires to be sticking out of the wheelwell.  What backspacing would be right for these rims and tires so they sit in the wheelwell nicely?
The rims come with 3” 5/16 backspacing or 4” 7/8 backspacing.  What do you guys think would be best?   Must I choose for the same backspacing front and rear? My car is al standard and will keep it that way, exept for tires and rims.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Should be plenty of room for backspacing on the back...

I have a set 8 1/2" autodrags with 4 1/2 backspacing and 245/50s in storage and I know they fit
the back, but I wonder if they would rub on the frame in the front :dontknow:

The car in the below pic has 8 1/2 autodrags on the front  with 3 1/2 backspacing and 235 tires
but the front of the fenders are modified slightly to let them fit

For the back the white car in the pic has 295/50s with 10" autodrags and 5" backspacing but
that car uses the  bolt in spring relo kit and a B-body rearend ;)
