The ears were just clipped.  Some owners do it, some don't.  It probably hurts like heck for the dog, but I think the reasoning is that with the ears clipped, it keeps them cleaner and in turn healthier.  Long droopy eared dogs can have lots of problems with infections, and they are supposed to be kept clean.  Most people clip them just becasue thats what accepted for their particular breed of dog but not many know the reason why.

She was born on christmas day. her name is Dana. Her ears irreatite (sp?) her and she scratches them sometimes. She has to go back in 2 weeks to get them re taped. Shes a real good dog,tons of energy and friendly. Shes going to be big from the looks of her paws
