Ideas for steering wheel wt. audio controls?
« on: April 25, 2013 - 11:55:25 PM »
I recently put some late 90's Dodge Avenger seats in my '73 Cuda (comfortable, adjust 5 million ways, still Mopar, $70 for the pair) and I need to replace my 15" steering wheel cause I sit higher now...

I'm thinking of getting a new audio system eventually and would like to control it from the wheel.

Any ideas? I'm looking for a 13" wheel... not sure what to plan for regarding audio control.

 Thanks guys

Alan

Aftermarket?  Do they make any?

New OEM wheels all have airbags in them.

I Googled remote steering control and there are a bunch of add on wireless remotes .
The way they mount & look seem pretty hokey to me  :clueless:  I think OE controls would need wires.

Seeing some bluetooth/voice command integration...wait a while, buttons will be a thing of the past.

Hey Bullitt, thanks for looking.  I would think voice control will fail me when the windows are down and I'm haul'n a$$ down the road.

Thx for the link to the seat info,  any details on what was required to mod the seat tracks?

I'll post what I did in the build thread.  Basically a 2x4 sized riser on the inboard side.  Used existing holes and secured the inboard side to the riser and the outboard side to a flat metal plate.  Nice and solid.

Ah ha... that's pretty cool!  I see there are a bunch of these on Amazon of many shapes and sizes.
It's certainly an easy way to get it done.

Thank you
