Looking To Find
« on: April 26, 2013 - 01:40:20 PM »
Hey guys,

I'm looking to find a good piece of trim for my 71 Challenger convertible.  Mine is dinged up and would like to find a new piece.  If not I will have to sent it out for repair and re-chrome.  It's my 71 Challenger convertible.  It's the drivers side and it's about 17" long by 1-1/2" wide.  Thanks

Dave

I don`t have any experience with verts, but are you sure the trim is chromed and not stainless...?  If it`s stainless I bet it can be straightened and polished fairly easy

That's a good question.  It may be stainless.  What's the best way to tell?

Just because it's stainless doen't mean it isn't magnetic. Many grades of stainless are magnetic, not all. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

it is stainless.  you would be better off sending it to be straightened/buffed.  stainless is easy to work with and turns out great.

Yes its stainless steel. I have never seen that part new or used available, I have a 70 vert that I've been looking for parts for a longtime.  Not to say there isn't any.

Just remove all four pieces, fix the dents and polish it out. Or send it to someone who can do that for you. :2cents:

It is stainless.
I've taught you everything you know.....but I haven't taught you everything I know !

Cody put up a great thread here about removing and polishing stainless trim.
