Correct route for window washer hose?

I was looking at the Members Engine Bay Photos thread. Some nice work there!  I noticed that some people routed the window washer hose through the small hole in the top of the cowl, directly above the wiper motor, and some people did not. Does anybody know the "correct" route?

it sure seems like it would be made for that but cant say whether or not for sure. I can look in my 72 manual and see if there are any illustrations or mention of that routing

ok, looks like on the 72 model it dangles right off the bottom of the hood and does not run thru the hole

Ya, that's what it looks like. Seems it might hang a bit close to the exhaust manifold that way.
