Vanishing Point Tribute car
« on: April 30, 2013 - 09:33:21 PM »
Hello, I am doing a build up of a 1974 challenger and was wondering what all id need to change to make my 74 look like a 70. Im not looking to build an exact "clone" but a decent driver that looks very similar to the vp car.  Thanks in advance.

From what I know, I believe you will need a 70' rear taillight panel, (and 70 taillights of course), I think you may need 70 front fenders to accept the 70 grille, or some modifications on the existing fenders, new side view mirrors(unless if you don't want to go that far into detail), thats all I can think of foe the exterior right now, hope it helps.
Nothing last forever, so be thankful for what you have while you still have it. :)

you dont have to swap the front fenders, i still have 73 fenders with my 70 frille, but the side markers are different, as are the holes they mount in.

My car needs new quarters and both front fenders are shot, so will the 1970 quarters mount with the 1970 taillight panel on the 74 car or is there other mods needed? Are there any mods needed to mount the 70 front fenders in place of the 74 ones. Is the  Front valance the same? The mirrors are pitted severely so ill be replacing them too but probably keep the dual sport mirrors. I know the vp car only had the one driver mirror but I like to have two. Thanks for the info so far.

depending on how detailed you want to be almost every part was different on a 70 .
Yes the 1/4s & fenders will mount & the tailight panel will interchange , you will need 70 tailights & grille. The 70 headlights mount in steel mounts welded to the fenders 72-74 mount in the plastc grille . Neither grilles or tailight housings are repopped so you need good originals . You may actually find a decent 70 small block car for less than the conversion would cost . Everything is different from mirrors , seats & seatbelts door handles the list is endless .
