Setting air/fuel mix on my Edelbrock
« on: May 22, 2013 - 02:09:27 PM »
Hello All,

I have a challenger with a 360 out of a 1983 ramcharger. I replaced the intake and carb with An Edelbrock intake and an Edelbrock 600cfm carb. I rebuilt the carb recently. I tried setting the air/fule mixture, but I don't get the ruough idle until the screw is almost all the way in. I back it out half a turn, but the car still runs way too rich. I did this with both sides. During the rebuild, I removed both screws and sprayed carb cleaner in the holes and it seemed to flow well through the carb. I was having the same issue before I rebuilt the carb, so I am wondering if there is something else going on. I did time it to top dead center, but I am getting backfire through the carb.

Do the idle screws bottom out , did you set the float level correctly , it could be too high
I once saw an eddy carb with the wall for the fuel bowl miising as in not even cast in or caught by QC , no warranty or exchange either even though it was definatly not our fault !!
