Driveshaft Question
« on: May 17, 2013 - 03:51:29 PM »
I have a Factory 383 big block drive shaft with automatic trans for a 1970 E Body barracuda and my QUESTION IS

I did a four speed conversion and I will be buying a Dana60  from DR. Diff and I want to know will the factory driveshaft need to be shorted ?
If so what would be the length?

Thanks Rob

Dana takes a 1" shorter driveshaft from the factory.

I'd try it before cutting or getting another.
I went ahead and bought a 1" shorter DS when I put in my Dana, looking back on it, I'm pretty sure the original DS would have worked fine.  :2cents:

Thanks for your reply's so what you are saying is that it should be one inch shorter?

My drive shaft is bent so I was going to have one made but do you think I should what till I put everything back on the car and then measure it?  OR is it safe to say it's one inch shorter??

That's with a 383 and 4spd and dana60 from DR Diff in a 70 barracuda gran coupe.

Thanks Rob
