Radiator Mounting

Aluminium radiators. I bought an aluminium rad and was about to bolt it on the same as the original. Is this a good idea or do they have to mounted in rubber in a bracket or something? Will mounting as stock just cause it to fail early?

definately mount it in some kinda silent block/ insulator.  over time the alu will crack.

my BeCool has been in for 8 years and it is mounted as original type. Still ok.

I used "well nuts"  (available at Lowes in the nut and bolt section in the drawers)) to mount mine on the top and used stock rubbers from "something ?" in the wrecking yard for the bottom. Common to most north American factory rad set ups.

No factory Alum rad is solid mounted but will it live rigid mounted ? How long is a piece of string ?
My opinion is it will fail sooner , but it would depend on hard you drive the car , how much torque you make , how much addition bracing has been added to the body & if the rad is welded or epoxied , I always make some kind of isolated mount system to limit stress on the rad .

Thanks for the replies guys. I think I will still use the stock type mount but use the well nuts Brad posted a pic of. Just gotta open up the hole in the mounting bracket a bit.
