I grew up five houses down from a small car dealership that sold Mopars and european imports (Volvo, Jaguar, Range Rover and MG's). In the spring of '70 I was 9 years old and coming home one day on the school bus I saw that they had put a super cool looking orange car up on the outside elevated display stand. I had never seen anything like it, so when I got off the bus I ran down there to check it out. It was a Superbird in all of it's brand spanking new glory! Got out my notebook and attempted to make sketches of the car. Scribbled down the name of the car, the engine, transmission and the sticker price. Then I ran home all excited to tell my Dad and try and convince him that we needed to buy that car! :jumping: He listened intently amused by my excitement, that is until I told him the price. I don't remember what the sticker price was (what was the sticker price of a 440 'Bird - low $4,000's maybe?) but I do remember my Dad gaging and scoffing at the price when I told him. We always had used cars that couldn't have cost my Dad more than $1K if that, so I'm sure the thought of forking over four to five times (or more) what he was use to paying for a car must of seemed totally ridiculous to him. He went on and on about how outrageous the price was :blah: and with him doing that I instantly knew that my Superbird dream was dead. :faint:

Wow, compared to a base $3,000 car that's a big increase!

Do you still have that Cuda?  :clueless:
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

Yes I do.  I also have the (2) original Window Stickers that came on it from the Dealership.  It is the highest optioned - MSRP hardtop Hemicuda that was made in 1970.  It's a one of a kind color combination.  Black w/ Tan Leather Interior & Vinyl top.

Black and tan - that sure is a sweet color combo! I like it better than "triple-black", or the black and white of the infamous "polar bear" '70 HemiCuda. Like the black and white car being nicknamed "the polar bear", has the black and tan combo of your car led to it being referred to as "the Doberman" or "the Rotweiller"?

MSRP was $5,581 eh? That's right there with the $5,603 of the Chally RT/SE shown earlier in this thread. Your car must have as many, if not more, options than the Chally has. What all does she have in her? Don't suppose you would give us a peek at one of those two window stickers you have. Now that you have piqued our curiousity it would be cruel to leave us hanging. Thanks Dave!

"sweet"? Nah! That car is super-sweet - like high-fructose corn syrup sweet! Man that is one righteous ride! :2thumbs:

But you need to get that thing out some - it still has the print on the face of the tires! But I guess that is what you have the "junkers" for right? You need to do some tooling around you just pull out the Chally or Stang "beater" and take care of business!

You're killing me here Dave! Really killing me... :roflsmiley:
