best cast iron exhaust manifold treatment?
« on: June 19, 2013 - 06:49:28 AM »
What is a good treatment for cast iron manifolds? I have decided to use my last set of magnum exhaust manifolds on my engine and want them to look nice for as long as possible. I will bead blast them of course but I need something that looks like bare cast iron and will last. thanks for any and all suggestions!

NO NO NO NOOooooo

You want the correct high temp ceramic coating...Most places that do ceramic coating on headers and such should also have a cast grey colour.
I've had many sets done and they are guaranteed for life.....so far, so good....

I use Fireball Coatings.... http://www.fireballcoatings.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=4&Itemid=12

There you go . the cast paint looks correct & seems to last , we had a set coated & it looked all wrong but probably used the wrong coating ceramic holds up well though  :2thumbs:

thanks for the suggestions. I was thinking more of a treatment to keep the manifolds from rusting, cosmetic. I was intrigued by the coating and have requested a quote for my manifolds. they have not sent it yet but maybe soon.

I've used the Eastwood stuff and it's held up for years.
