Console lid stop/cable
« on: June 23, 2013 - 08:54:27 PM »
Getting ready install the console in my 71 4 speed R/T Challenger.

It's been a long time since I had an E-body with a factory console.

I'm wondering is there any type of stop or cable that keeps the console lid from opening too far.

Mine currently has nothing and I thought there was some type of stop?

Thanks

I believe it is the same part# as the cable that holds the glove box door open on a 70-76 A-body

1970 only I think...other years didn't use a cable

Nothing on mine, just stops when it hits the passenger seat back.

1st photo is the cable that's used with my '70 console.  The last 2 photos show where it attaches to the console door and console.

Thanks for the information :2thumbs:

My 71 console has the pictured hole in the lid and the provision in the console for the bottom mount if I drilled a hole there so I could use one.

Does anyone know a part number for the cable and/or where to buy one?
