A833 18 spline diffs?

Everything I've read and seen has told me that the only real difference between an 18spline and 23 spline 833 is the input shaft and front bearing retainer etc. I was told by someone yesterday that the tail shaft housing is also different in that it has a larger bearing as well. Is this true? The pictures I've been able to dig up don't really tell me anything either way.

The rear brg may have been smaller in some of the A biody trans but all the ones I have had apart use the 308 rear & the 307 or 308 front brg , the gear set was unique as well even 23 spline trans had various gearsets that have to change as a set .

House it's not the same, a 23 splines house is weaker, they are not as thick as the 18 splines house.
